Lane, 31, is scheduled to make his initial appearance in Rock County Court at 1 p.m. Monday, April 17. He is charged with two felonies--delivery of marijuana to a minor and contributing to the delinquency of a child--for his alleged treatment of juveniles he hired to work for his itinerant magazine-selling company, YES. Lane would face a maximum of 11 years prison if convicted. Jim Haney, spokesman for the Wisconsin Attorney General's office, said the court appearance was arranged with Lane's attorney in New York. Lane, who is believed to be in the area of the Quad Cities that straddle Iowa and Illinois, still is seeking Wisconsin counsel. The criminal complaint that charges Lane also charges his company, YES, with 13 felonies, including seven counts of negligent homicide, because of the March 1999 van crash on Interstate 90 north of Janesville that killed seven young people and injured six, five seriously.
