two charged

Three men were arrested in connection with a robbery in the parking lot of a local credit union, but only two were charged with the crime.

Adam N. Sisk, 20, was charged with robbery and carrying a concealed knife. Jeffrey L. Ritter, 21, was charged with robbery, making terroristic threats and attempted first-degree sexual assault for the Sunday incident.

Neither man has a permanent address. They told Judge David Bush in court Thursday that they are in town selling magazines door to door and were staying at the Relax Inn, 507 W. Second St. Both men also told Bush they were originally from Minnesota.

They are charged with robbing Heather Marker, 23, of 2013 30th St. and David Galvan, 16, of Central City around 11 p.m. Sunday as they sat in a vehicle in the Central Nebraska Federal Credit Union's parking lot at 609 S. Locust St.

Deputy Hall County Attorney Lisa Anderson said in court that Sisk walked up to Galvan's side of the vehicle, and Ritter approached Marker's side. The men claimed they had guns and demanded that Marker and Galvan give them money.

When Marker said she didn't have any money, Ritter ordered her to get out of the car. He said he was going to rape her, and he threatened to kill her, Anderson said. Ritter then reached his hand toward the belt line at the back of his pants and left it there.

Marker talked Ritter out of taking her with him and surrendered her rings instead, Anderson said.

According to a search warrant affidavit, the rings Marker gave Ritter were Black Hills gold. One was a size 5 with two gold leaves, and the other was a size 612 or 7 with two gold leaves, two diamonds and a pearl.

Galvan gave Sisk money and a lighter, Grand Island police Capt. Larry Trosper said earlier this week. As Galvan reached into his front pocket to surrender the money, Sisk hit him in the face.

Composite drawings of the two men were compiled by the Police Department.

According to the search warrant affidavit, Galvan went to the Police Department on Wednesday and told an officer he had just seen the men who robbed him getting out of a van at the Village Inn Pancake House, 2624 S. Locust St. Galvan accompanied police to the restaurant, saw the two men he believed had robbed him and told police he was positive about their identities.

Police arrested Sisk and Ritter's brother, Jeremy Ritter, at the restaurant around 10 a.m., Trosper said.

Jeremy Ritter told police after his arrest that he knew nothing about the robbery and that his twin brother was probably involved, Trosper said.

According to the search warrant affidavit, Jeremy Ritter did know about the robbery but told police he did not want to get involved.

Jeremy and Jeffrey Ritter are identical twins, and each has a teardrop tattoo on his face. The descriptions Marker and Galvan gave to police said one of the men who robbed them was Hispanic and had a teardrop tattoo beneath his eye.

Jeffrey Ritter was arrested at the Capital Trailer Park about 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Jeremy Ritter was released Thursday after it was determined that he was not involved in the robbery. No charges were filed against him.

Bush set Sisk's and Jeffrey Ritter's bond at 10 percent of $250,000 each. Their preliminary hearings will be at 11 a.m. Sept. 6.
