The employee said four of the magazine sellers had offered to sell her drugs, according to Lt. Phil Tavares. After running a computer check on the other three men, police discovered an outstanding warrant for the arrest of Marchae [Al Knight], 21, of New Haven, Conn. Capt. Knight said the warrant was issued by another jurisdiction on charges of burglary. Full Text: Copyright Patriot Ledger May 28, 2003 The Patriot Ledger Police asked a group of solicitors who were going door to door selling magazine subscriptions to leave town after arresting two of them. Capt. Al Knight said he revoked the men's permit to solicit. "Due to the general makeup of the group and the fact that they didn't monitor their employees properly, we asked them to leave," Knight said. The group of nine to 12 solicitors were traveling around town in a van Friday afternoon. Police took action after they received a complaint from a person who works at the Subway shop on Snow Road. The employee said four of the magazine sellers had offered to sell her drugs, according to Lt. Phil Tavares. Police found the four men loitering on Snow Road at about 1 p.m. Friday. The Subway employee identified the men for police. Police said they found a small quantity of marijuana on one of the men. Camerae Harris, 23, of Maple Heights, Ohio, was arrested and charged with possession of a Class D substance and possession of a Class D substance with intent to distribute. After running a computer check on the other three men, police discovered an outstanding warrant for the arrest of Marchae Knight, 21, of New Haven, Conn. Capt. Knight said the warrant was issued by another jurisdiction on charges of burglary. A third man admitted that police in Virginia had issued a warrant for his arrest on a misdemeanor charge. Because the warrant was not in the police computer, the man was not arrested, Tavares said. Police received a complaint from a downtown store that another member of the group had stolen a Palm Pilot handheld computer, Knight said. The suspected thief was not located. After the arrests, police spoke with several members of the group. Knight said many of them were vague about their home addresses. They told police that they were staying at a hotel in Milford. "Apparently they go from city to city, town to town and state to state, trying to sell magazines and books," Tavares said.
