Representative Terry Moulton
Chairman
Assembly Small Business Committee
Room 20 N
State Capitol
Dear Representative Moulton:
I am writing in support of AB 208, which provides regulation of traveling sales companies. This bill would not only provide a safeguard to our citizens but also to the people employed by these types of sales companies.
Although there are many legitimate sales companies operating within the State that engage in ethical door to door sales practices, there are some that do not. Unfortunately, some of the unethical practices include the exploitation of many of our young people who are promised a great job. In reality, these employees are paid substandard wages, made to work long hours and are subjected to substandard and oftentimes unsafe working conditions.
As you are
the Chair of the Committee on Small Business, please support AB 208 and allow a
public hearing on this matter. I believe
AB 208 would address many of these issues through appropriate regulation.
Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
Wayne
